Sandra Joseph
Sandra Joseph received a Bachelor in Performance from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal with Professor Jean-Guy Plante and a Master in Performance from McGill University in the classes of Aiyun Huang, Andrei Malashenko and Fabrice Marandola.
Sandra actively performs with a wide variety of musical ensembles and genres. She is a freelance percussionist with the Orchestre Métropolitain and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. Her interest in theatre had brought her into several projects that integrate chamber music, story, creative movement, singing and dance. In 2005, she has been part of Tapajungle, a theatre project for children and family audiences. Recently, she recorded two percussion-theatre works for the documentation project of Professor Aiyun Huang.
Recent performance includes appearances at the Cool Drummings International Festival, the Toronto Summer Music Festival and the Musimars Contemporary Music Festival. In the summer 2009, she took part of the ‘Roots and Rhizomes’ Percussion’s Residency directed by Steven Schick at the Banff Center for the Arts.
