Julien Grégoire

Julien Grégoire is a versatile and well-known percussionist on the Montreal scene. Actively involved in contemporary music, Grégoire is a member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and the Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec. He performs regularly with such organizations as ACREQ and Codes d'Accès, and often collaborates in theatre and dance, as well as musical improvisation.  With flutist Guy Pelletier, he founded the duet Traces which plays regularly in concert and on disc. Grégoire has also played as soloist in Quebec and abroad.

As a freelance musician in classical music, Grégoire has played with various orchestras such as the «Grands Ballets Canadiens» orchestra, the «Studio de musique anciennes» and «I Musici». He has participated in numerous concerts and recordings in several countries, notably in Europe and in Asia.

Grégoire completed a Bachelor's and a Master's degree at the University of Montreal with Robert Leroux.  Currently he teaches percussion at Cegep Marie-Victorin of Montreal, in Ste-Thérèse's Cegep Lionel-Groulx as well as at the University of Montreal where he teaches both at the undegraduate and graduate levels, and is head of the percussion ensemble.
